Rosie’s Retreat Homestay, Udaipur, Rajasthan
Rosie’s Retreat began being a home to travelers in 2012. Rosie, the owner, bought its older version of cow dung and straw in 2007 and reformed it into the stunning homestay it is today. It is situated on a quiet residential back lane in the Old City of Udaipur; its location encapsulates the charm of Lake Pichola beautifully.
The homestay is divided into two sections – The Lakeside Apartment and The Studio. The ground floor of Rosie’s Retreat is what makes The Studio and the first and second floors The Apartment. One can choose to stay in either of the two or book the whole of it. The Studio comprises a spacious room with an attached luxurious bathroom, a double bed, a little library and cozy armchairs. The Lakeside Apartment is a little more extravagant owing to the fact that it has a fully equipped kitchen, a sit-out area ahead of the bedroom as well as a terrace overlooking Lake Pichola. Nonetheless, the look and feel of the entire house is uniform all through.
Delicately decorated and washed in white, Rosie’s Retreat is every inch elegant. The wooden motifs here and there give the place its earthiness. And you’ll find colour sprinkled through the property in the form of traditional textile as well as antiques.
In its vicinity lie architectural marvels such as the City Palace, home of the Maharajas of Udaipur and the ancient Jagdish Temple. And the rest of the City of Lakes lies not far from Rosie’s Retreat.
